A couple of things...

First off, on Saturday at 2 PM, Jay from the Linkery will be appearing on Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie on KPBS at 2 PM. If you don't live in San Diego, it's available on public television in many other cities - check the link for more info. I am so bummed I missed last week's episode about food bloggers, but I just heard about it a day too late from David Lebovitz' blog. Older episodes are available for download on iTunes, so I guess I'll just have to wait!

I also had a chance to eat at Mama's Lebanese this week for the first time, and it was amazing. I can't believe it took me so long to try this place! By far the best falafel I've ever had. Everything was fantastically fresh and the little covered patio is charming. Afterwards, Angie and I went around the corner to Eclipse to visit Will at Eclipse Chocolat on El Cajon Blvd. Looks like he's going great guns in there. We were there on Saturday for dessert and had some really good stuff. That spicy caramel on his cheese plate is phenomenal.

Last Saturday I also met up with a few Chowhounders for lunch at Mariscos German, in Logan Heights. We had some great seafood tacos and they served up some fantastic looking shrimp.
Yesterday I also lunched at a new little wine bar in Bankers Hill called Wet Stone with Lisa, my Slow Food friend who has an Arclinea showroom here in town. Really delicious soups, salads and sandwiches, and the prices are terrific - $5.-$7. - and you get to sit down and be served by the owner, a very nice guy. By night, it's a wine bar with pizzas, salads and other snacks.
I may not have much time for posting in the next couple of days - but I promise I do have some good stuff coming! Saturday we're having dinner for some friends - and Sunday is Supper Club at our house - we're watching the Oscars and doing "Nouveau Retro Cocktail Party Favorites." It should be a good time, and I am sure I'll have lots to tell you about next week!
Enjoy the weekend!

Oh, my goodness, I don't know why I was convinced that Eclipse Chocolat was near Kensington. No clue how I came to that. It's on Alabama and ECB?! My life just became a bit happier. We walk the pooch by Howard and Alabama all the time.
I went to Mama's for the first time Super Bowl weekend. Great hummus and baba ganoush.
I can't believ you had never been to Mama's!!!!!! Love that place. Try the Manakeesh Ultimate sometime. It will change your life.
Jora- that's the other thing we had! I know- I just usually go to Soltan Banoo when I'm in that neighborhood so Mamas wasn't on my radar. It
is now though!
moowie- you should def. try it- it's between the Livewire and Red Fox Room on El Cajon.
Hi Alice - I can't believe you've never been to Mama's......good cheap eats. BTW, I'm thinking of setting up a ECB/University Banh Mi crawl....maybe not until spring, but if you're interested let me know.
Kirk - I know! Terrible isn't it. I still haven't been to Super Cocina either! I did pick up dinner at Dao Son tonight and it was pretty good - I love their spring rolls. I would definitely be down for a Bahn Mi crawl, and whatever else you put together, just let me know!
Do you really get to eat all this stunning food? Have mercy!
First time to Mama's and you've never been to Super Cocina?! And you call yourself a food blogger! Just kidding. You definitely need to get to Super Cocina very soon. I love that place...
Mrs. G - yes, yes I do. And I am ramping up my gym time, lest I pay the price permanently!
ikes - I know, crazy huh. It is kind of fun to have something to look forward to though!
